Using homosoils for quantitative extrapolation of soil mapping models

چکیده

Abstract Since the early 2000s, digital soil maps have been successfully used for various applications, including precision agriculture, environmental assessments and land use management. Globally, however, there are large disparities in availability of data on which mapping (DSM) models can be fitted. Several studies attempted to transfer a DSM model fitted from an area with well‐developed database map areas low sampling density. This usually is challenging task because two hardly ever same soil‐forming factors different regions world. In this study, we aim determine whether finding homosoils (i.e., locations sharing similar factors) help transferring information by means extrapolation. We hypothesize that within world considered as homosoils, one leverage high density fit model, then extrapolated geographically little or no data. collected publicly available clay, silt, sand, organic carbon (OC), pH total nitrogen (N) our study Mali, West Africa its homosoils. regression tree between properties covariates applied Mali. calibration validation strategies were explored. also compared approach existing made at global continental scale. concluded geographic extrapolation was possible, but accuracy dramatically improved when local included dataset. Diagnosis of patients with Parkinson's disease using quantitative susceptibility mapping

Introduction: Parkinson'sdisease isassociated withirondeposition in the brain. The T2-weighted imaging, T2* mapping, R2 mapping and Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) are three common methods to evaluating the iron deposition in brain. Among three methods the QSM is more sensitive than others. Few studies have been used QSM for evaluating the iron deposition in the basa...

Mapping soil salinity using Landsat 8 images for land evaluation: A Case Study of Saveh

Introduction: As a valuable asset that play a key role in the environment, natural resources, and the production of agricultural products, soil provided an appropriate ground for plant growth and vegetation development. Therefore, any disregard to the preservation of such a valuable capital may result in food shortages, soil erosion, and degradation of natural resources. From among different i...

Comparison of two MPSIAC and MMF models in soil erosion mapping of Ardebil Agh Gouni watershed

Extended abstract 1- Introduction Soil erosion is the most important cause of land degradation and the cause of water loss, soil loss, sedimentation in water resources, and maximum flood intensification (Liu et al., 2019). Models are the most important tools for estimating and mapping of erosion at the watershed level. As the experimental models are dependent on used coefficients and region c...

Homosoil, a Methodology for Quantitative Extrapolation of Soil Information Across the Globe

In many places in the world, soil information is difficult to obtain and can be non-existent. When no detailed map or soil observation is available in a region of interest, we have to extrapolate from other parts of the world. This chapter will discuss the Homosoil method, which assumes homology of soil-forming factors between a reference area and the region of interest. This includes: climate,...
